FAQ's About RCI International Process Service & Investigations
I need my papers serving today. Can you help?
More often than not the answer is absolutely YES! If you have a really urgent service then please call our office at (410) 693-8992 before sending documents. We will confirm our availability and the cost of service beforehand as well as the best way to transmit the documents to be served.
I need you to collect the papers from our offices. Can you help?
Yes, we can arrange for a collection of the papers from you if required and you are unable to transmit them via email or overnight delivery. There is an additional charge for doing so of usually between $35-$75 depending on the area. We will ONLY provide pick-up of papers, if time allows, in Baltimore City/County, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Montgomery & Prince Georges counties.
Do you only cover the areas listed on your website?
NO, RCI in-house staff covers the entire State of Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Delaware, Philadelphia, York & Harrisburg PA at the rates listed on our website. Outside our immediate operation areas listed on the website, we also handle ANY city within the 50 states at a flat rate of $149.00. International service of the process along with language translation is also offered in over 195 WORLDWIDE countries.
How much do you charge?
Our standard fee is $45.00 for Baltimore City/County for attempting service of your documents. This rate increases depending on the area in which the service is being conducted. All of our rates are listed on this website by area for your review, as well as any additional fees for special services such as rush or late night requirements.
How many visits will you make for the fee you charge?
RCI does NOT limit our attempts to the standard three visits usually provided by our competitors. If we have made what we feel is diligent effort without catching your subject then we will contact you to discuss the case before proceeding further. We try to make enough effort to insure that the judge will allow an alternative method of service such as a posting order in evasive defendants.
When do you charge me?
On local or nationwide process service requests we normally submit an invoice once the job has been completed along with the affidavit of service. On international process service in foreign countries, we do require full advance payment at the time requests are placed with our office. We may require a retainer on surveillance investigation requests and then submit interim invoices on case assignments that are ongoing.
At what times will your Process Servers call?
We will call at whatever time is necessary to catch your subject. Many services we make are done outside normal business hours. On initial residence services, we usually will conduct attempts between the hours of 7AM-10PM, unless contact has been made and the defendant has requested a time that he/she will be available outside of those hours.
Do you guarantee service will be made?
NO, it’s impossible for us to guarantee that your papers will be served. If your subject is evading us then we normally prepare an affidavit that can support an application for alternative or non-service due to us not being able to locate the individual. RCI charges the rates indicated for your service request regardless of whether the service was obtained or not.

How do I instruct you to serve my documents?
It’s very easy to instruct us. The best and fastest method is to PDF a true copy of the documents to our mail at admin@rci-process.com.
Will I receive an affidavit of service?
We will prepare either an affidavit of service on successful services or a non-serve or alternative service request affidavit. If you have a preference as to which you would like us to complete then simply let us know with your instructions once we speak with you once we have determined that we are unable to serve the defendant.
I don't know my subjects home address but I know where they work. Will you attend a works address to make service?
Yes, we would be able to attempt service at any address you have, so long as the defendant is accessible at the employment location. Otherwise, we may have to conduct a skip trace search in order to locate a new residence address in order to effect service of process. Even if the Court papers have your subject’s previous address on them we can still attempt service at an alternative address.
